Hey, I’m Jess — a support worker who created Shift Happens Co. out of lived experience.
This brand wasn’t built around aesthetics or trends.
It was built around real shifts, real people, and the heart of care work.
When I couldn’t find clothing that reflected the reality of support work — comfortable, practical, meaningful pieces made for people who actually show up — I started creating my own.
Shift Happens Co. grew from purpose, not perfection.
From lived experience, not hype.
From care, not curation.

I’m big on doing with, not doing for.
Active support shapes how I work, how I show up, and how I see people.
It’s never been about being a hero — it’s about walking alongside someone, respecting their autonomy, and creating space for dignity, choice, and growth.
That philosophy is quietly stitched into everything I create here — every design, every message, every reminder that presence matters.
The Person Who Shaped My Why
Before this brand existed, before I truly believed in my own voice, there was Anita.
Anita was my former Program Manager — but more than that, she was the steady, grounding presence who showed me what real leadership looks like. She led with heart, humanity, and an unshakeable belief in the people around her.
She taught me that you don’t need perfection to make an impact.
You just have to show up with purpose.
Shift after shift.
A huge part of my confidence — and my belief that I can actually make a difference — comes from what she helped me see in myself.
Her influence sits quietly behind this brand and the way I support people every day.

The people I support are at the centre of everything I do.
They’re real humans with real lives, real challenges, and real moments that teach me more than any training ever could.
They’ve shaped the way I work, the way I see the world, and the kinds of pieces I create — pieces that reflect the honesty, unpredictability, and meaning that live inside support work.
Why I Started Shift Happens Co.
Because for a long time, nobody was making things for us — the support workers, carers, nurses, students, and shift-life humans who keep showing up on compassion and caffeine.
Our work is meaningful and messy.
Emotional and exhausting.
Challenging and deeply rewarding.
I wanted to create pieces that honour that reality — not romanticise it, not sugar-coat it, and definitely not turn it into something it’s not.
Just calm, honest reminders that what you do matters.
